"Dogs Looking for Their Forever Home"

From time to time we will feature dogs on this page looking for their "Forever Home". For various reasons they have not worked out as herding dogs. This does not make them any less special in our eyes and finding the right home for each is very important. If you contact us about adopting a dog featured here you will be asked many questions about how you will house, feed and care for them. Do not be offended by this as it is part of the adoption process. All dogs featured here for adoption are de-sexed and microchipped or will be before placement. In most cases the cost of these dogs is the cost of de-sexing, microchip and vaccinations. They will be placed under a pet contract. Prospective owners must have a fenced yard and show that the welfare of the animal is well thought out in advance. Each dog has their own story as to why they are featured on this page. Savy’s Story:

Savy is a beautiful 4 year old purebred black and tan Kelpie bitch. Two years ago while working she ran a thorn into her right eye. With veterinary treatment the wound in the eye recovered but her tear duct function became minimal. She has undergone every possible treatment to return her tear duct function to normal including a salivary gland transplant at the cost of $1500.00. Unfortunately the surgery did not work, and she must be treated three to four times daily with Visco Tears; an artificial tear gel. If this is not done she will have to have the eye removed. Being on a farm during this ongoing drought, the dust and dirt serves as a constant irritant to her eye.

We have decided after much deliberation to find a caring pet home for Savy where she can be the centre of attention and not in the dust and dirt all the time. This would be in a home where she can sleep inside in her crate and not on another farm.

She is a loving, happy girl that stands perfectly still for her eye meds while wagging her tail the whole time. She does have full vision in the eye and has minimal scarring due to the use of the artificial tears.

She will be placed as a de-sexed bitch and will be micro-chipped. She would make an ideal companion dog for someone that wanted a dog to be with them all the time, or even someone that was wheelchair bound. She loves people, is crate broke; leash broke, broke to tie and travels well in a vehicle. She would possibly suit an agility, obedience home.

A fenced yard is mandatory and someone MUST be home to medicate her eye.

If you are interested in adopting this sweet dog or want more information please contact us at outlawkelpie@bigpond.com and put “Savy” in the subject line.
